Chilly here but the birds have returned and trout are rising. May is the best time of year to fish and paint, I've been doing both. This old farm house is nearby, it's an exercise in color temperature and value. Hoping this Spring finds you well! Thanks for stopping in. </div>

Give me warm sun and I am happy. Winter color is more silvery to my eye and perhaps more true to natures outdoor light in general. <br />
We've had some snow here and the collection of shapes behind some buildings really caught my eye. <br />
Thanks for looking in! <br />

I've painted outside often lately, every day in fact. Tree leaves are moving toward warmer colors and that is a favorite time of year to be working out of doors. Begun last week in a nearby town, this painting was finished in the studio. It was a bright day and I tried to get that. The figure is a friend who lives in the brick house. </div>

The beautiful greens of Pennsylvania summer, they're a challenge to paint from a couple of standpoints. To capture the lushness and variety of an August day without an overload of the color green is the sort of problem that makes painting interesting. Like every aspect of painting a balance is needed, and so the red flag. <br />

We drive by this brick farm house building and have seen it deteriorate for years. Speaking with the tenant I learned the property will soon be developed with 300 homes and it's doubtful this building will survive. </div>

The metal chairs from the 50's interested me and the pattern of light and dark seemed strong. Thanks for your visit.</div>

Without electricity, lights or running water, it was a different way to live and a nice change of pace. Remote, the trout here are plentiful and I was fishing when this scene caught my eye. Compelling shapes are a spring board for me, often appearing unexpectedly, as was the case with this painting. Thanks for looking in. I was fortunate to be among the 18 students painting with this talented artist in Washington Square and in Central Park. John gave a demo each day as well as individual attention. Thanks John! </div><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div></div></div></div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
